Craterfest made an impact for regionPublished 9:06am Thursday, April 25, 2013
Congratulations to the Wetumpka Area Chamber of Commerce on the success of its revitalized annual festival – Craterfest. The event drew a large crowd to downtown Wetumpka.
There was an eclectic assortment of vendors offering everything from food to wood carvings to jewelry and other accessories. Children had a chance to engage in a number of fun and free activities. Live musical performances accompanied all of the other activities. And that was just on Saturday.
The pre-party kicked off Friday night with a glow-in-the-dark run – the Crater Crawl – that attracted far more entrants than organizers anticipated. Nearly 180 runners signed up for the night time race along the river’s banks, and more people dropped in to watch the participants and listen to music provided by local DJs.
We know an event of this caliber didn’t “just happen.” Much hard work and many hours were involved in planning, organization and actual implementation. Thanks for all of your efforts!
Another important event is coming up in Wetumpka this Saturday – Relay for Life.
Even if you aren’t a member of one of the teams working to raise money for the American Cancer Society, you can help make this fundraiser a success.
Several teams are selling tickets for various items to raise funds – or you can just drop by Hohenberg Field Saturday between noon and midnight and make a donation. Step up and help out a worthy cause.
