Teen boy struck by car during rush hourPublished 8:50am Monday, May 6, 2013
A 13-year-old boy was injured Thursday evening after being struck by a motor vehicle as he attempted to cross U.S. Highway 231 in front of the Wetumpka Winn-Dixie.
The incident happened about 5:55 p.m., at the peak of rush hour traffic, according to Deputy Police Chief Anthony Crenshaw.
“He was trying to cross from the west side to the east side,” said Crenshaw. “He made it across four lanes safely, but came into contact with a vehicle in the far right lane.”
Crenshaw said the boy was transported to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery by Haynes Ambulance.
“He was treated at Baptist for non-life threatening injuries,” he concluded. “There are no charges against the motorist.”
