It looks like Kevin Hall has another game on his schedule beyond coaching in Sunday’s Dixie Lion’s Club East-West Game.

The Holtville baseball coach has been chosen as one of three skippers to lead the South All-Stars in the 17th All-Star Sports Week affair against their northern rivals.

“I’ve always wanted to do something like this,” said Hall.

“I guess I can thank Wendell Jackson (Elmore County’s baseball coach). He’s over this area and he called and asked me if I wanted to do it. I said heck, yes. There was no way I was turning this down.”

Hall will join Brent Boyd (Spanish Fort), Larry Cotney (Kinston) and Ab Argent (Thorsby) as South coaches.

The two teams, comprised of current junior student-athletes from across the state, will play at Riverwalk Stadium, the home of the Southern League’s Montgomery Biscuits, July 15.

Locally, Stanhope Elmore’s Blaine Milam was chosen as an All-Star.

The Stanhope Elmore pitcher/catcher will toe the rubber for the South as one of six throwers on the roster. Chase Gunter (Jackson), Brian Lane, Jr. (Spanish Fort), Rob Perteet (Spanish Fort), Jesse McCord (Spanish Fort) and Blake Teel (Chilton County) will also be in the pitching rotation.

The South and North tied 6-6 in the first game of the All-Star competition last year and the South won game two 15-3. The North leads the series 15-10-1. The annual series began in 1997.
