Youth invited to Rocking with RespondersPublished 4:48am Monday, June 24, 2013
Local first responders will showcase their skills and expertise in their respective fields on June 29. Wetumpka Police Chief Celia Dixon said the Rocking with Responders event will be held in the parking lot of Hohenberg Field (Wetumpka’s football stadium) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“There will be all kinds of first responders there, not just the police,” said Dixon. “We encourage parents in Wetumpka to bring their children ages 5-16.”
She said the day’s activities will include inflatable slides, K-9 demonstrations and other types of entertainment. Free hot dogs and hamburgers will also be available.
“It’s going to be lots of fun,” Dixon said.
There is no charge to attend. In addition to the Wetumpka Police Department, event sponsors are the Wetumpka Fire Department, Elmore County Sheriff’s Department, Alabama State Troopers, Haynes Ambulance, Air Evac / Lifeteam, Elmore County Emergency Management Agency, Costco and ECPFC-SOAR program.
