Council approves new roof for Wetumpka Police DepartmentPublished 4:28am Saturday, July 6, 2013
The staff of the Wetumpka Police Department can soon retire the buckets they’ve been using to catch drips when it rains.
During Monday night’s council meeting, officials approved $30,910 as a public works project to replace a large portion of roofing of the police department’s headquarters on Marshall Street.
“There are three layers of roof on it now,” said Wetumpka Mayor Jerry Willis. “The plan is to start in the back and move forward to the firewall (with new roofing). The front part is in fairly good shape right now.”
In other business:
•Approval was given to advertise to hold a public meeting concerning acquisition of property for economic development.
