Wetumpka Elementary School’s annual fall festival – ES Fest – will be held Oct. 17 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the rear parking lot on the school campus. This will be the 18th year for the fundraiser.
The family-friendly event will feature a variety of carnival games, entertainment, activities and food. Attractions will include hay ride, cake walk, football throw, basketball toss, rock monster, beanbag toss, hair painting, eyeball grab, candy store, pumpkin patch, car bash, go fish, candy corn bowling, silly band toss, spider toss, treasure dig, hit the pinata, minute to win it, duck pond, toilet toss, tip the troll, plink-o, dunking booth, javelin toss, haunted house and more.
Performances will begin at 6 p.m. with the WES Clown Troupe on the cafeteria stage, followed by the WES Chorus in the same location. Harvest King and Queen winners will be announced at 7 p.m.
The public is welcome to attend WES Fest. Admission is 50-cents per person. Tickets will be 25-cents each, with participation at each booth requiring varying numbers of tickets.
Proceeds from the event go directly into teachers’ classroom accounts to be used for supplies. Teachers create and man booths individually or in teams. Money raised allows them to make purchases for their students they might not otherwise be able to afford.
The annual event was initiated in 1996 as a fundraiser to finance projects to benefit the school’s students. Parents, businesses and teachers provide prizes and supplies for the booths.
Anyone who would like to donate candy or prizes, should call the school at 334-567-4323.
