EPD seeks person of interest in attempted home invasionPublished 2:39pm Tuesday, October 15, 2013
Eclectic Police are making extra patrols in the area of West Collins Avenue and Kowaliga Road searching for a person of interest in an attempted home invasion on the 700 block of West Collins.
Police Chief Robert Head said a female resident reported a 6-foot black male, approximately 190-200 pounds, trying to break into her home around 9 a.m. Tuesday. He said the suspect was attempting to push the cardboard out of a previously broken window to gain entry to the home.
“But she heard the noise at the back door, grabbed a weapon and he ran,” Head said.
She gave the same description, Head added, as a similar report at the same address on Friday.
“We think it’s more about the specific young lady there,” he said. “It’s more about her than about trying to break into a residence. But she doesn’t know who it is.”
West Collins Avenue runs between Kowaliga Road (63) and Georgia Road (170).
The suspect fled through the field behind the home in the direction of Kowaliga Road, Head added. The suspect was described as wearing a white T-shirt, khaki shorts, tall white socks and black shoes. Elmore County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted in the search this morning, he said.
Head asked that anyone with information call the EPD at 334-541-2148.
