The Wetumpka Depot Theatre will again host the Alabama Conference of Theatre’s upcoming state community theatre festival, ACTFest ’14. This year’s festival will be held Oct. 25-27 and will feature abbreviated performances by four community theatre groups from the state.

Shows will be offered by:

•Theatre Downtown (Birmingham) – “The Big Bang” – Oct. 25, 8 p.m.

•The Whole Backstage Theatre (Guntersville) – “I Don’t Want to Talk About It” – Oct. 26, 3:15 p.m.

•Leeds Arts Council – “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” – Oct. 26, 7 p.m.

•Wetumpka Depot Players – “The Fantasticks” – Oct. 27, 11:45 a.m.

Admission to individual shows is $10 per person (purchase at box office only) or $25 for a festival pass (purchase at the box office or online at wetumpkadepot.com).

ACTFest is held each year in association with the Alabama Conference on Theatre, which is an umbrella organization that promotes theatre statewide. In addition to competition performances, ACTFest includes workshops on a variety of theatre-related topics. This year’s program will include methods to increase revenue, raising awareness of theatre in the community, a directors panel discussion and acting through the expressive actor method. There will also be a closing reception and awards presentation.

“The Depot is thrilled to open their doors again to other community theatres across the state,” said Kristy Meanor, Depot executive director.

Meanor said competition performance times are approximate and will depend on actual running times of the shows and their adjudication. Patrons are advised to be at the theatre at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled start times.
