The first of Wetumpka’s Christmas on the Coosa activities will be held this weekend – the annual Miss Christmas on the Coosa pageants. One competition will be Friday and three Saturday at the Wetumpka Civic Center.

“There will be participants in four age groups,” said Tiffany Robinson, Wetumpka events coordinator.

The Junior Miss Christmas on the Coosa pageant (sixth- through eighth-graders) will begin at 7 p.m. Friday.

On Saturday, the Petite Miss Christmas on the Coosa competition (kindergarten through second grade) will start at 11 a.m., followed by the Little Miss Christmas on the Coosa pageant (third- through fifth-graders) at 4 p.m. Competition will conclude with the Miss Christmas on the Coosa contest (ninth- through 12th-graders) at 7 p.m.

Contestants in all age groups will be judged on physical appearance, poise, interview/personality, behavior and punctuality.

A queen and runners-up will be named in each pageant, along with special category winners. There will also be photogenic contests for each age group.

Admission to the pageants is $5 at the door.

Pageant winners will participate in the city’s tree lighting, as well as the annual Christmas on the Coosa parade and other activities.

Photos will be published in an upcoming edition of The Wetumpka Herald.
