Woman ‘lied’ about attempted home invasionPublished 12:22pm Friday, November 8, 2013
An Eclectic woman who launched a local manhunt last month has been charged with two counts of filing a false police report, according to Eclectic police.
The 19-year-old woman told police that a 6-foot man had attempted to break into her home on West Collins Avenue on two occasions, most recently on Oct. 15. Local police were aided by the Elmore County Sheriff’s Department in a wide canvas of the area searching for the suspect she described.
But Eclectic Police Chief Robert Head said the woman admitted Friday morning that she had lied about the break-in. She was just “trying to get attention,” Head said, and there was never a break-in.
Filing a false police report is a misdemeanor, Head added.
