Really? It can’t be Santa time alreadyPublished 11:25am Thursday, November 14, 2013
As I was strolling down the bustling sidewalk through EastChase this past weekend, enjoying the 70-degree weather, I noticed the setup was complete for Santa. That’s right, Santa. Maybe that doesn’t strike you the same way it does me but my first thought was, “Bah Humbug!”
I’m just not ready. I’m not ready physically, emotionally or monetarily. Before you start thinking that I’m a reincarnation of Ebenezer Scrooge, you should know that I’m typically the person that loves seeing the Christmas trees go up in Walmart around mid-October.
I get excited and start making my list and checking it twice. I start making plans for food, parties and my Black Friday assault.
Obviously, that’s not the case this year. I feel like we just shot bottle rockets and ate watermelon on the lake pier celebrating the Fourth of July. Suddenly, I blink, and there’s a complete setup for Santa in the middle of EastChase!
I guess that just means one thing – time to get my stuff together. I think that’s why I had such a strong reaction and really didn’t want to see Saint Nick or his gilded chair.
For the record, I’m blaming the weather. The continued warmth has certainly played a part in my denial that Thanksgiving and Christmas are on the way. So thanks, Mother Nature, how about a little heads-up next year?
