The National Weather Service issued a five out of five severe weather risk level for Coosa County. Some parts of Elmore and Tallapoosa counties are also under a five out of five risk level, including Alexander City. The rest of Elmore and Tallapoosa counties remain a level four out of five. 

The threat was issued for noon Saturday through 3 a.m. Sunday. Some of the possible risks include tornadoes, damaging winds with gusts up to 70 mph and large hail. 

The National Weather Service also issued a level one out of five severe weather risk level for Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. for all of Central Alabama and a level one out of five risk level for Tallapoosa, Coosa and Elmore counties from 10 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday. This risk level includes possible damaging winds with gusts up to 60 mph, tornados and large hail. 

The NWS advises individuals to check for updates, have multiple ways to receive weather alerts and know where your safe places are.  

The Elmore County EMA will post a list of shelter and safer places on its social media should the county enter a tornado watch.
